SHINYANGA Regional Police Commander
(RPC), Mr Muliro Jumanne Muliro, has urged councillors in the
municipality to use their security committee to reveal criminals in
their respective areas by cooperating with law enforcers.
Mr Muliro, made the remark recently
following several complaints from municipal councillors against law
enforcers for failure to preserve peace in wards in matters that involve
the whole society.
Speaking to councillors, Mr Muliro, said
that the issue of security and maintaining of peace needs to be
supported by all from the street, villages to ward levels since the
public stays with people who engage in crimes.
“Sensitise the public so that they can
be ready to give cooperation to police because they know each other, if
the community will be devoted themselves to the exercise it may be
easy,” insisted Commander Muliro.
He also advised them to educate the
public to provide assistance in courts once it is needed as witness in
cases because failure for cases to get spectators causes some culprits
to be set free by courts.
Shinyanga Municipal Council Deputy
Mayor, Ms Agnes Machiya, speaking on behalf of councillors, praised the
advice made to them by RPC in reminding them some crucial things they
all had to implement.
She said that once they followed the
advise made by the Regional Police Chief they would deliver the
envisaged goal of ensuring peace and tranquility, ensuring communal
harmony and effective participation in economic endeavour.
“We assure you that the community will
give cooperation to police to ensure we end malpractices in our society
so that our people can participate in their activities as usual,” said
Ms Machiya.
