PRIME Minister today led other
Members of Parliament to pay their last respects to Hafidh Ali Tahir who
passed away at the General Hospital in Dodoma.
The last respects started in the morning
and ended around noon prior for the body of Mr Hafidh, 63, transported
to Unguja, Zanzibar for burial ceremony today.
PM, Kassim Majaliwa, in his message
during the last respects at Bunge grounds today, said the death of
Hafidh should send a lesson of love and respect among one another as no
one anticipated he will die that soon.
“I have known Hafidh as committed leader
and sportsman, who stood, by what he believes, " Mr Majaliwa said. The
National Assembly Speaker, Mr Job Ndugai said they attended a Bunge
Sports Club meeting Thursday evening, planning for the East African
Assemblies competition in Mombasa, Kenya next month.
“He [Mr Hafidh] was happy and health,"
Mr Ndugai said, “after the meeting, he gave a vote of thanks and as
usual we teased one another and especially Simba fans, I was shocked
when I was informed of his demise."
Leader of the Opposition in the
Parliament, Mr Freeman Mbowe, who was also in yesterday’s Yanga fans
election meeting, said they should all follow the good work of Hafidh
whom he described as a person who love all members of parliament
regardless of their political affiliation.
"His death should remind us, this world
is not our home, we should be happy with everyone, as was the case with
Hafidh, my fellow Yanga fan" he said.
Mr Hafidh was a journalist, FIFA badge referee and a politician.
