KENYA:Deputy President William Ruto Sends Congratulatory Message to Donald Trump

 
Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday joined the list of world leaders sending congratulatory messages to United States President-Elect Donald Trump.

Contrary to the message sent by President Uhuru Kenyatta and other heads of states, Ruto's message stood out and sounded more personal compared to other leaders who just expressed their support and promised to work with Trump.

The Deputy President hit at the media for having held a negative perception of the real estate mogul commending him for beating all odds and proving his critics wrong.

"Congratulations President-elect Trump for overcoming all the negative media profiling to decisively win the US election. The people spoke," the DP said.

During the campaign period, Trump withstood strong criticism from the media which disregarded his candidature and highly publicised his alleged scandals.

A section of international media houses even regularly published memes and used mocking headlines, describing Trump with critical statements while they openly supported his rival, Democratic candidate

Hillary Clinton.
In weeks leading to the election, opinion polls carried on various outlets gave Clinton a convincing lead. She also won during the national debates which gave the candidates a platform to sell their policies.

Earlier on, President Kenyatta sent out his message stating: “Kenya congratulates Mr Trump for his victorious campaign, and his main opponent, Mrs Hillary Clinton, for her valiant effort".

"The ties that bind Kenya and the United States of America are close and strong. These values remain dear to the peoples of both nations, and so our friendship will endure,” he added.

His Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli also added his voice to the matter stating: “Congratulations President-Elect and the people of America for a democratic election, Tanzania assures continued friendship”.
