Mara family loses 4 kids to lightning

 
FOUR children from one family died on Tuesday due to lightning that struck Mashing Village in Bunda District, Mara Region. The strike followed a heavy downpour, with strong winds, that pounded the village in Kisorya ward also injured five other people, including the deceased’s parents.

Masahunga Village Chairman Japhet Kambira named the deceased at the 8:47pm incident as James (14), Penina (9), Elizabet (8) and Mujo (6), all children of Siajari Magoti. The injured are Mr Magoti and his wife Helena as well as four other children Masingili, Karingi and Pole Siajari. 

 

Another two-year old child, Elias Masingisi escaped unharmed. Bunda District Commissioner (DC), who is also the disaster committee chairperson in the district, Lydia Bupilipili confirmed the incident. The DC and Kisorya Ward Councillor visited and consoled the bereaved family on behalf of the government.
